Plateau Mont-Royal (or simply Le Plateau) is ranked one of North America’s top 20 neighbourhoods offering the best quality of life, according to Project for Public Spaces (PPS), a non profit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining public places that build communities. In their rating, Le Plateau comes in 7th place.

The Plateau, characterized by its side-walk cafés, pubs, bars, art galleries, trendy shops and cosy restaurants was chosen in great part due to its residents’ “laissez-faire” or laid-back attitude

This is a neighbourhood where friends meet without making up-front appointments, as they know all too well that they’ll run into each other on the street sooner or later.

When you’re tired, walk over to one of the area’s two glorious green spaces - Lafontaine Park, the third most important park in the city, and Jeanne-Mance Park and soak up the warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The edgy urban vitality of this dynamic neighbourhood attracts many artists; as a matter of fact 8% of the Plateau’s residents are local artists. .
