Frequently Ask Questions

What is a damage deposit?

It is the amount of money you have to give the renter to cover the possible damage to the objects furnishing the rented place. It is also used to cover the possible damage done to his furnished apartment by the tenant.

The damage deposit will be given back to you if the furnished apartment is left as you found it on your arrival. Any repairs or replacement of missing or broken objects will be deduced from this deposit.

In no way can the deposit be used to pay for the last month’s rent.

What is a booking (or reservation) deposit?

It is the amount you pay in order to make sure that the furnished apartment you’re interested in will be reserved for you until you arrive.

How will I get from the airport to the furnished apartment?

At the airport, you can choose between a rented car, the shuttle or a taxi. You’ll find all information on these different modes of transportation on the web site of the Montreal-Trudeau airport (http://www.admtl.com/). As you shall see on the site, a taxi is not much more expensive than the shuttle, especially if you are more than two persons and it will make your life much easier.

If you are carrying a larger amount of luggage, we recommend the services of a more spacious minivan taxi.

At what time can I get into the furnished apartment?

As a rule, the furnished apartment is available from 16:00 on the day of your arrival, unless you have agreed otherwise with the renter.

How can I get the keys and the furnished apartment when I arrive?

Upon arrival at our offices in Montreal:

You’ll sign the seasonal rental lease;
You’ll pay the balance of the rent as well as the damage deposit. This can be paid cash in Canadian money, or in Travelers Cheque (Canadian money) or by Visa, MasterCard or American Express (4% service charge extra);
As for the damage deposit, you can pay it cash or by Visa, MasterCard or American Express. This amount will not be cashed by us if your stay is of 60 days or less.
Please note that an official proof of ID is compulsory in order to proceed with the rental booking.
You will then be given your furnished apartment’s keys.

Do I have to bring sheets and towels?

They are always included in the rent and are available at the furnished apartment.

Can I have an Internet connection at the furnished apartment?

All our furnished apartments offer a High Speed Internet connection

When do I have to leave the furnished apartment?

Unless agreed differently with the renter, departures are done before 10:00.

Do I have to do the housework?

You will take possession of a clean furnished apartment and the cleaning of it will be done after you leave.

I have other charges, as compared to those agreed to?

Our prices are “all included”. You will be charged for your non-local telephone calls and for the use of internet beyond the allowed limit.
Everything else is included in the rent: electricity, heating, hot water, TV cable and the telephone with unlimited local calls.

What about long distance calls?

At a “dépanneur”, the equivalent of a convenience store, you can buy a calling card ($5,00, 10,00, etc.) which will allow you to make international calls at very advantageous prices from your own furnished apartment or any phone booth.

What do 2 1/2, 3 1/2, etc. exactly mean?

It is the number of rooms in the furnished apartment, the 1/2 being the bathroom. For example, in a 3 1/2, you will find a kitchen/dining room, a bedroom, a living room and a bathroom.

In some 4 1/2, you will find 2 bedrooms: in others, a bedroom and a study.

A bachelor is a furnished apartment made of a single main room with a bed, a couch and an equipped kitchen, which is often separated from the main room.

What is the difference between a furnished and equipped furnished apartment and a semi-furnished one?

Semi-furnished apartments, as one can see them advertised almost everywhere, generally offer only basic electrical appliances (refrigerator, stove).

We rent only apartments which are completely furnished and equipped, in which you will find EVERYTHING (domestic appliances, beds, couch, table, chairs, TV set, sheets, towels, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, iron, etc.). We like to say to our customers: “Just bring your suitcase!” Please note, however, that some of our furnished apartments do not offer washing machine and dryer within the actual apartment space, but in the buildings service area.

Can your furnished apartments be rented by the week?

Our furnished apartments are available only by the month.

Are your furnished apartments accessible to handicapped people?

Some are and others aren’t. Mention to us that you look for such a furnished apartment, and it will be our pleasure to inform you on request.
